Ice Show Newsletter #1 Nov 7/2011
Practices have started so it’s very important that your child attend all practices
- Check the bulletin board to see which character your child is in the ice show. Make sure his/her name is spelled correctly as this is how it will be printed in the program.
- Pictures (group & Individual) will be taken on Saturday Nov 26th in the Owen Room @ Pearkes Arena. You must come dressed in your costume & with your skates on. Every single person is expected to be in the group picture even if you decide that you are not going to purchase any pictures. For those purchasing pictures, there is a $5.00 sitting fee to cover the expense of renting the room. Please bring the correct change that day. We will later be sending you a schedule of the times that each group gets their photo taken. We will schedule it as close to Saturday skaters ice times as possible. There will be sample photos for you to look at on the bulletin board. AAA Photography will bring order forms & price lists a week or two before picture day. He accepts VISA & MASTERCARD.
- Costumes are in the process of being sewn/ordered. Some skaters may have to be at the arena for a fitting at 1:30 on Saturday Nov 12th. You will be contacted if you are one of those skaters. All costumes will be distributed BEFORE picture day. Some of the group numbers will need small tasks taken care of to complete the costumes. If you can tie a knot, use some glue or cut out some fun foam, you will be able to do what we ask of you.
- DRESS REHEARSAL will be on FRIDAY DEC 2 at PEARKES ARENA from 3-5:50pm (Remember the show is at Archie Browning Arena in Esquimalt) Make sure that you can get your child out of school early that day & be at the arena on time and in costume. Parents/guardians will not be able to watch the dress rehearsal.
- Ice show tickets are now available for everybody to sell. Come into the club room to get your tickets. Ask a coach or an excutive member to help you. Everybody must have a ticket for the ice show – even the volunteers as the volunteers will be able to watch the entire show. It is important that you pre-sell as many tickets as possible as profits from pre-sales go directly to our club. Profits from tickets sold at the door are split between the two participating clubs.
- A Basket Raffle is another way that we raise funds for our club. Please contribute a new item for one of our themed baskets such as (Gardening, Family/Movie night, Beauty/Spa, Child, Dad etc)
- If you are able to procure basket items from family, friends or businesses it would be greatly appreciated. Gift certificates for services are always very popular. Bring your items to the Club Room & give them to one of the coaches or an executive member.
- Advertising in the Program. If you have a business or know people who own a business, please ask them to advertise in our program. A business size card ad costs $25. A ½ page ad is $50 and a full page ad is $100.
- You will also be contacted regarding what job you have been assigned from what you checked off on ice show volunteer sheet.
