Our Programs

General Information

We have on-going registration and all fees are pro-rated. Our programs are recognized by all Skate Canada Skating Clubs. If you were to relocate anywhere in Canada, other Skate Canada clubs would know what skills your child has acquired by which badge or test he or she has attained.

Canskate (and Hockey Ready)

If you want to learn basic skating for fitness, fun, for entry into figure skating, hockey, speed skating or ringette, then this is the program for you.The program is set up in six stages (go forward, go backward, stop, turn, spin and jump) and is taught in a group lesson format. CanSkate is taught by professional Skate Canada coaches and assisted by trained Program Assistants. Awards and incentives are used to motivate skaters to achieve and develop their skills as well as to keep interest high!

Junior LevelPPPPrimary Level

After Canskate comes the JUNIOR PROGRAM. The Junior program will give your child an introduction into all aspects of the sport of figure skating. The disciplines of skating are much more difficult at this level and therefore progress is generally much slower than at the Canskate level. This program is very challenging and therefore may be overwhelming at first, but most skaters love it once they get used to the routine. At this level the club offers a stroking group lesson included with your membership fees but they still need more instruction. The coaches have arranged for extra group lessons for your skater. These are called PAID GROUP lessons. A two day skater would get a minimum of 3 lessons each week. A small monthly fee is charged & post-dated cheques are collected for the season. Contact one of the coaches for more details. You may also request private lessons if you wish. Contact one of the coaches.

Intermediate Level

This level is for the skater who is working towards a Skate Canada Preliminary Test. Skaters are moved into this level at the discretion of the Coaches & the Executive. Private or semi-private lessons are suggested at this level.

Senior Level

Open to all skaters working on Junior Bronze or higher Skate Canada Tests. The qualification to be a Senior changes from year to year depending on the dynamics of the Club. Skaters who do not meet the Junior Bronze criteria may be moved at the discretion of the coaches and the Executive.

Sychronized Skating

This is a team forcus activity incorporating many skills in a unified, sequenced routine. Performances and competitions are key elements. Some age restrictions may apply. Team selection is based on individual strength & skill
