Volunteering

The Saanich Skating Club is run by a group of volunteers so all families must pitch in to help in some small way. All families will contribute time to the club for various duties that might otherwise fall on only a few members or cost the club money to perform. Each family is responsible for at least one task during the skating season. Many Hands make for little work!

Volunteers are greatly needed to support our special skating days and events. 

Events:

Halloween Skate (October 31st, 2026)

Christmas Performance Day (December 19th, 2026)

End of Year Family Skate (March 13th, 2027)

Some examples of volunteering include:

• Bake sale items
• Putting out the club's signboard before sessions
• Hand out ribbons & update Star Skate chart
• Coffee Set Up or Take Down
• Halloween & Holiday Party Purchase Prizes
• Test Day Support: Ice Captain, Test Paper Runner, Purchase/Donate Food
• Performance Day: Recital Announcer, Play Music, Set Up Club Banner on the Ice, Decorating Ice Captain for skater performance timing, security, lights, recital ticket sales, Canskate Helper, Take down decorations and banner, Clean up Food Concession
